Brigadier-General Mohammed Danjuma Yusuf (retd.), former Director of Army Public Relations at Army Headquarters, has lost his wife, Hajiya Nana Hauwa Yusuf, following a sudden heart attack in Abuja.
Family sources say Hajiya Hauwa died in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026, at about 5:00 a.m. after she was rushed to the National Hospital emergency unit, where she was later pronounced dead.
The late Hajiya Hauwa, a Kogi State indigene, was until her retirement in 2024 the Director of Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation at the Primary Health Care Department of the Federal Capital Territory Primary Health Care Board, where she was known for her work in public health awareness and community engagement.
Her death has come as a shock to family, friends, and colleagues, especially as she had recently celebrated her 62nd birthday on May 3, 2026, in Abuja, an event attended by relatives and associates.
According to a statement released by her son, Mohammed Dantala Yusuf, the deceased passed away after a brief medical emergency and was buried the same day at about 2:00 p.m. at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja, in accordance with Islamic burial rites.
The family has expressed gratitude for the condolences received, while describing the late Hajiya Hauwa as a dedicated public servant, mother, and community advocate whose legacy in health communication and social mobilisation will be remembered.
