The Jigawa State Government has appointed coordinators for the implementation of the state’s development agenda across its 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs), a move aimed at strengthening policy execution and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.
According to a statement from the office of Governor Umar Namadi, the new coordinators will oversee the roll-out of the Jigawa Economic and Social Transformation Agenda 2026 (JESTA-26), focusing on priority sectors including education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and youth empowerment. Each coordinator is expected to serve as a link between local authorities and state ministries, ensuring that development plans are effectively translated into programmes that meet the specific needs of communities.
The Governor’s directive highlights the importance of localised leadership and accountability in achieving broader state objectives. Coordinators will be required to provide regular progress reports, engage with community stakeholders, and monitor implementation of projects, including schools, health posts, rural roads and economic empowerment initiatives.
Officials say the appointments are part of a broader strategy to decentralise development planning, empower local government structures and enhance citizen participation in decision-making. The move is also expected to boost transparency and responsiveness, as coordinators are tasked with ensuring that community feedback is incorporated into programme execution.
Governor Namadi has charged the newly appointed coordinators to work with dedication and integrity, with the goal of driving tangible improvements in living standards and accelerating the delivery of key services across the state ahead of the 2026 fiscal cycle.
