The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, narrowly escaped a potentially fatal accident on July 19th Saturday evening while travelling for an official engagement. The incident occurred along the Daura–Katsina expressway when his convoy encountered a sudden hazard that forced evasive action, resulting in a minor crash involving the Governor’s vehicle.
According to his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Governor sustained minor injuries and was immediately attended to by his security and medical team before being moved to a nearby hospital for observation. “We thank Almighty Allah for sparing the life of His Excellency. He is stable and has since returned to continue his work for the good people of Katsina,” the statement read.
The accident sparked widespread concern across the state, with traditional rulers, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens taking to social media to pray for his well-being. Radda, who has been at the forefront of agricultural and security reforms in Katsina, personally released a brief statement thanking the people for their prayers and urging them to stay hopeful and united.
The incident has reignited conversations about the state of Nigeria’s highways and the importance of implementing rigorous safety protocols, especially for VIP movements. The Governor is expected to resume his public engagements this week.
