The Lagos State Government has intensified monitoring and oversight across its agencies and parastatals as part of efforts to block revenue leakages, improve accountability and strengthen institutional governance.
The Permanent Secretary of the Parastatals Monitoring Office, Iugbemiga Ayoola Aina, disclosed this during the 2026 ministerial press briefing in Alausa, Lagos. He said the reforms are designed to improve efficiency, transparency and financial discipline across government-owned agencies and companies in the state.
According to Aina, the initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda aimed at building stronger institutions and improving public service delivery.
One of the key reforms is the monitoring of 80 revenue-generating agencies through the Parastatals Revenue Generating Meeting, also known as PARGEM. The platform was established to track revenue performance, identify leakages and strengthen collection systems across the state.
The permanent secretary revealed that the government also carried out inspection and evaluation exercises across 70 agencies in 2025, while a new round of assessments involving 75 agencies is already ongoing in 2026. The inspections focus on revenue generation, expenditure monitoring, pension compliance, project implementation and adherence to government financial regulations.
Aina further disclosed that the PMO conducted project monitoring exercises involving 25 agencies to assess ongoing and completed projects, ensure value for money and identify delays in execution. The exercise was carried out in collaboration with professionals from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to ensure projects meet approved standards.
He added that operational assessments were also conducted across 50 agencies to evaluate governance structures, financial records, succession planning and administrative efficiency.
The Lagos State Government says the reforms are part of broader efforts to strengthen public institutions, increase internally generated revenue and ensure prudent management of public funds amid growing economic challenges nationwide.
