The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu after he canceled an upcoming trip, saying the move amounts to little more than a symbolic gesture amid Nigeria’s worsening security crisis. According to a PDP statement, the trip cancellation lacks substance and fails to address the immediate threats to citizens.
The party’s national spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, argued that mere optics cannot replace real action, stating that Insecurity and fear have become the daily lived experience and Without further strategic actions, this trip cancellation will amount to nothing more than another media stunt aimed at currying public favour.
PDP leaders urged the President to show leadership by doing more than expressing sympathy. They called for “decisive leadership, strategic action, and consistent support for security forces.” The party insisted that stronger measures not symbolic gestures are needed to restore public confidence and protect lives.
