Mock-up of new U.S. passport featuring Donald Trump’s portrait.
The United States Department of State has announced plans to release a limited-edition commemorative passport to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence in July 2026, featuring an image of President Donald Trump.
According to officials, the special passport will include customized artwork while maintaining the same security standards and international validity as regular U.S.
passports. Mock-up designs show Trump’s portrait on an interior page alongside the United States Declaration of Independence and the American flag, with his signature printed in gold. Another page features artwork of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The commemorative documents are expected to be issued this summer, initially through the Washington Passport Agency, while supplies last. Standard passport designs will continue to be available through normal application channels.
Officials said there will be no additional charge beyond standard passport fees, although the total number to be produced has not been publicly disclosed.
The initiative forms part of broader America250 celebrations planned ahead of the United States’ semiquincentennial. The announcement has drawn mixed reactions, with supporters calling it a patriotic tribute, while critics questioned the inclusion of a sitting president’s image in an official travel document.
