Nigerian actor Adeniyi Johnson has issued a public warning over an alleged impersonation scam involving the unauthorized use of his identity online.
In a statement shared via his Instagram page on Tuesday, Johnson revealed that an individual reportedly based in the United Kingdom has been posing as him and contacting members of the public.
The actor shared a screenshot of a conversation involving the suspected impersonator and emphasized that he has no connection whatsoever to the person or any activities linked to them.
Johnson also clarified that the phone number being used does not belong to him. He further stated that he currently does not operate through a personal manager or assistant for business engagements.
He urged fans, colleagues and members of the public to ignore any messages, business proposals or requests sent through the unauthorized contact.
According to him, any dealings initiated through the impersonator could damage his reputation and mislead unsuspecting individuals.
Johnson also encouraged the public to report the number involved in the alleged scam to relevant authorities or service providers.
The actor’s warning comes amid increasing cases of identity theft and celebrity impersonation on social media platforms, where fraudsters often exploit public figures’ names to deceive fans and business associates.
