A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to present the achievements of his administration to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election instead of relying on political rhetoric.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, the Ovation Magazine publisher said the president’s performance over the past years should be the major basis upon which Nigerians decide whether to re-elect him.
According to Momodu, the 2027 election would not be difficult for President Tinubu if his administration could convincingly demonstrate measurable progress in governance and national development.
He argued that Nigerians are more interested in results than political campaigns, stressing that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should focus on showcasing its achievements rather than engaging in political attacks.
Momodu also criticized the APC for repeatedly blaming previous administrations for the country’s current economic and governance challenges.
He questioned why the party continues to fault its predecessors despite having been in power for years.
According to him, if the current administration inherited a struggling economy and governance structure, Nigerians deserve to know what concrete steps have been taken to improve the situation.
He maintained that citizens are looking for visible improvements in their daily lives, particularly in areas such as the economy, infrastructure, security and the cost of living.
During the interview, Momodu also commented on the long-standing political disagreement between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, following recent remarks made by Obasanjo regarding his choice of Atiku as vice president.
His comments come as political parties continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, with campaigns and political alignments expected to intensify in the coming months.
