The family of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has appealed for urgent medical assistance after revealing that the 66-year-old actor is battling stage-four cancer.
His daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, calling on Nigerians, medical professionals, hospitals and well-wishers with access to cancer treatment to help their father.
Daughters Plead For Medical Help
In an emotional video, Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated significantly and claimed that some hospitals were no longer willing to continue treating him.
Fighting back tears, she appealed to medical professionals and facilities that could take on the actor’s case to come forward.
She stressed that the family’s immediate need was medical intervention rather than financial donations.
According to Lima, the family only discovered the seriousness of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago, saying his appearance had initially not indicated how severe the illness was.
Hospital Reportedly Stops Chemotherapy
In a separate video, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and said the hospital treating him had informed the family that it could no longer administer chemotherapy.
She appealed to hospitals, doctors and other qualified medical professionals who could provide treatment to contact the family.
Kira said the family was willing to explore available treatment options in their effort to save the veteran actor.
Family Receives Support
The actor’s daughters also acknowledged individuals who have supported the family during the difficult period.
Kira specifically expressed appreciation to Senator Yayi for what she described as substantial financial assistance towards her father’s treatment.
Lima also thanked a relative who had provided significant support to the family.
Despite the challenges, the sisters said they remained determined to find medical assistance for their father.
Ogogo Reportedly Fears For His Life
Kira became emotional while describing her father’s condition, saying she had never seen him experience such severe pain.
She appealed to anyone who knows of a doctor, hospital or medical facility capable of treating advanced cancer to reach out to the family.
According to her, Ogogo has also expressed fears about dying as he continues to battle the illness.
