The Federal Government is set to review electricity tariffs to address the wide pricing gap between different customer bands and encourage investment in the power sector.
Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, speaking at the National Integrated Electricity Policy presentation in Abuja, criticized the slow migration of customers to Band A due to DisCos’ reluctance to invest.
Currently, Band B customers (17-18 hours of power) pay ₦63/kWh, while Band A customers (just two extra hours) are charged ₦209/kWh. Adelabu described this as unfair, stating that the government will regularize tariffs to ensure equity without necessarily increasing rates.
