OPay Launches N1.2bn Scholarship Drive

Fintech company OPay has launched applications for the 2026 edition of its OPay Scholars Programme, a N1.2 billion, 10-year education initiative aimed at supporting students across Nigeria.

The company says this year’s edition expands beyond scholarships to include an Innovation Challenge in partnership with Google, designed to equip students with practical digital skills and real-world problem-solving experience.

The challenge, which runs from May 25 to June 14, 2026, invites undergraduate students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria to form teams of five and develop technology-driven solutions to real-life problems. Participants are also required to use the Gemini app as part of their project development process.

Top entries will be rewarded, with the winning team receiving ₦10 million, the first runner-up ₦5 million, and the second runner-up ₦3 million.

Organisers say the programme also includes structured webinars and bootcamps focused on innovation, digital skills, and career readiness, while outstanding participants will gain access to OPay Futures for possible job opportunities.

OPay says the expanded initiative reflects its commitment to education, youth empowerment, and Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
