The Federal Government and the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation have called for accelerated reforms to fully digitise Nigeria’s civil service, moving all ministries, departments and agencies away from paper-based processes to modern digital systems.
President Bola Tinubu made the call in Abuja at the 2026 International Civil Service Conference held at Eagle Square, and was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
The conference, organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, brought together more than 5,000 participants from 16 countries across Africa, Europe, Asia and North America under the theme “Reforms, Resilience, and Results.”
President Tinubu directed all MDAs to fast-track the adoption of digital tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and service delivery, stressing that modern governance depends on eliminating bureaucratic delays and embracing technology-driven systems.
He said the civil service must evolve into a more responsive institution capable of delivering faster, more accountable public services to citizens.
Chairman of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, backed the reform agenda, urging stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to achieve meaningful transformation.
He said the success of governance should be measured by real-life outcomes such as timely passport issuance, efficient healthcare delivery, prompt pension payments, and easier business registration.
According to him, no government can drive sustainable reform alone, stressing that partnership remains key to innovation and institutional effectiveness.
The foundation, which served as Diamond Partner at the conference, also hosted an alumni roundtable on public sector reform, bringing together policymakers, civil servants, and private sector leaders to explore strategies for sustaining reforms.
Executive Vice Chair of the foundation, Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public institutions through capacity building, leadership training, and policy support.
The foundation says its ongoing programmes, including the AIG Public Leaders Programme, continue to support efforts aimed at improving governance and service delivery across Nigeria.
