ISRAEL LAUNCHES 40 STARTUP OPPORTUNITIES FOR NIGERIAN INNOVATORS

In a significant move to supercharge Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem, the Israeli government has unveiled 40 new startup opportunities tailored for Nigerian entrepreneurs. The announcement was made by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Sharren Miriam Haskel-Harpaz during the 4th graduation of the Innovation Fellowship for Aspiring Inventors and Researchers (i-FAIR) at Innov8, Abuja.

Speaking at the event alongside Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman and Nigeria’s TETFUND boss Sonny Echono, Haskel-Harpaz encouraged Nigerian innovators to apply for internships that can turn their ideas into scalable ventures across energy, agriculture, recycling, and beyond. She emphasized that empowering local talent not only advances global development but also fuels Nigeria’s economy and job creation.

Echoing this sentiment, Echono highlighted Nigeria’s demographic dividend and potential for economic diversification through innovation and value-added industries.

This initiative aligns with earlier plans by Israel and Nigeria to jointly target the creation of one million digital-economy jobs through mentorship and investment tied to the i-FAIR programme.
