The Nigeria Police Force has forwarded the case file on the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Mene Ogidi to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation for review and prosecution.

The incident occurred on April 26, 2026, in Effurun, Delta State, where the victim was reportedly shot after being arrested over a parcel allegedly containing a fabricated firearm and ammunition.

Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed this during a briefing in Abuja, stating that investigations have been concluded and officers involved indicted for misconduct, abuse of office, and unlawful killing.

He said the Police Service Commission has approved the dismissal of the affected officers.
According to him, the case file has been transmitted to the Attorney-General’s office for legal review, and the Force will cooperate fully to ensure prosecution in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Placid also confirmed that some suspects, including a driver and vigilante members linked to the incident, are still at large, adding that tactical teams have been deployed to apprehend them.

He stressed that the police will not tolerate extrajudicial actions, assuring the public that justice will be served.

The deceased’s body has been deposited in a mortuary, and a formal autopsy will be conducted as part of ongoing prosecution efforts.
