Amaechi Rejects ADC Presidential Primary Results, Alleges Irregularities

Former Minister of Transportation and presidential aspirant, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election, describing the process as flawed and lacking credibility.

In a statement posted on his X account, Amaechi alleged widespread disenfranchisement of delegates during the exercise, insisting that the results announced by the party were “fabricated” and did not reflect the will of members.

He said he would only accept an outcome that is free, fair, transparent and consistent with democratic principles, adding that the integrity of the process was more important than personal ambition.

Amaechi further claimed that a large number of party members were prevented from voting, questioning what he described as inconsistencies between the ADC’s internal conduct and its public stance on electoral integrity.

The former Rivers State governor stressed that the party was founded to provide Nigerians with a credible alternative platform for inclusive governance and national unity, cutting across ethnic and religious lines.

He also criticised alleged incidents of vote buying, manipulation of results and exclusion of delegates, warning that such practices undermine the credibility of any political organisation.

According to him, a party that condemns electoral malpractice at the national level must also uphold internal democracy and fairness within its own structures.
The ADC leadership has yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
