The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of N100 million, with strict conditions attached to his release.
Delivering the ruling on Monday, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ordered that El-Rufai must produce a surety in the same amount before he can be released.
The court specified that the surety must reside within Maitama or Asokoro districts of Abuja and is required to deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a verifiable landed property with the court registry.
In addition, the surety must be a serving federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17 and must present proof of salary payments covering at least three months. The court further directed that all submitted documents be verified through a formal letter from the surety’s bank manager within the court’s jurisdiction.
The stringent bail conditions, according to the court, are aimed at ensuring compliance and preventing any risk of flight while the case continues.
The matter has been adjourned for further hearing, as legal proceedings against the former governor continue.
