FG Commissions Solar Water Facility at MYSC Camp

The Federal Government has commissioned a new solar-powered water facility at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, providing thousands of corps members with reliable access to clean water.

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Joseph Utsev, inaugurated the facility on Saturday as part of the 2025 World Water Day celebrations. He emphasized the importance of sustainable water management, even in countries like Nigeria that do not have glaciers, linking the initiative to the government’s broader efforts to improve water access nationwide.

NYSC Director-General Brigadier General O. Nafiu, represented by Alhaji Jikamshi Abdullahi, commended the project, stating that it would significantly improve living conditions at the camp. He urged corps members and camp officials to ensure proper maintenance of the facility, stressing that access to clean water is crucial for health, productivity, and national development.

The event also featured a sensitization walk from Eagle Square to the NTA Headquarters in Abuja, aimed at raising awareness about sustainable water management.
