American actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in the hit television series Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36.
Panettiere’s death was confirmed by her father in a statement to ABC News, in which he described the actress as a remarkable person who brought love and joy to her family, friends and millions of fans around the world.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” he said, while appealing for privacy as the family comes to terms with the loss.
The cause of death had not been disclosed as of the time of the report. TMZ, however, reported that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death was ongoing.
From Child Star to Hollywood Actress
Born in 1989, Panettiere began her acting career as a child and quickly became a familiar face on American television.
She later built a successful career across both film and television, gaining widespread recognition for portraying Claire Bennet in the science-fiction series Heroes.
She also starred as Juliette Barnes in the musical drama series Nashville, a role that further established her as a major television star.
Her film credits include Remember the Titans, Ice Princess, Scream 4 and Scream VI.
Memoir Revealed Personal Struggles
Beyond her acting career, Panettiere opened up about some of the challenges she faced away from the spotlight.
Her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, released in May, explored her experiences as a child star, as well as her struggles with addiction and her journey through recovery.
The actress also wrote about her complicated relationship with her mother, who managed her career during her childhood.
Her mother later criticised aspects of the memoir, adding another layer to the family’s public history.
Panettiere’s death has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of an actress who began her career as a child and remained a familiar presence on screens for decades.
