Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and Presidential Economic Advisory Council, has declared that he is prepared to face trial, insisting that he will be vindicated by the courts despite allegations of forgery, conspiracy, and impersonation.
Adeyemi, who is currently standing trial before the Federal High Court in Abuja, maintained that his appointment was legitimate and expressed confidence that the judicial process would ultimately prove his innocence.
Speaking during a telephone interview on *Politics Today* on Thursday, Adeyemi dismissed claims that he had been avoiding law enforcement authorities.
“Not at all,” he said when asked if he had been evading arrest.
Addressing the ongoing criminal case, Adeyemi stated that he has no objection to allowing the court determine his fate.
“If I am wrong, let the court of law say so. If I am right, let the court do the right thing,” he said.
He added, “Since the matter is already before the court, I want a competent court of jurisdiction to vindicate me because I am ready to clear my name. My lawyers are handling the matter, and the public will have the opportunity to follow the proceedings. Let justice take its course.”
Adeyemi also insisted that he possesses a valid letter of appointment but declined to reveal further details, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.
“I have a letter of appointment. However, because the matter is in court, I cannot say much about it. I am currently on medication and not feeling well,” he explained.
When asked whether he considered himself a criminal in light of the charges against him, Adeyemi rejected the suggestion.
“No, I am not a criminal. The court will determine that,” he said.
He also questioned the Presidency’s claim that the PFIPC never existed, arguing that it would have been impossible for him to operate openly for years if the agency were entirely fictitious.
“For a moment, assume the agency does not exist. Would I have had the audacity to travel across the country, meeting heads of ministries, departments, and agencies if I knew the organisation was fake?” he asked.
“No Nigerian would dare do that. I could not have operated publicly for nearly three years if everything had been fabricated. Nigeria is not a banana republic.”
Adeyemi’s comments come after the Presidency publicly disowned him, describing him as an impostor accused of orchestrating an elaborate scheme involving forged government documents and impersonation.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said police investigations uncovered an alleged forged presidential appointment letter purportedly signed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
According to the statement, Adeyemi allegedly operated a non-existent government agency while maintaining 34 bank accounts, including nine accounts reportedly opened in the names of fictitious government organisations.
The Presidency said Adeyemi was arrested on October 27, 2025, following a petition submitted by Gbajabiamila to security agencies over the alleged forgery and impersonation.
He and two other suspects are currently facing an eight-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja, including conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation. The case has been adjourned until July 27, 2026.
The Presidency also disclosed that concerns about the activities of the purported agency had earlier been raised by both the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission before the police investigation commenced
The controversy intensified after Adeyemi made serious allegations against Gbajabiamila, accusing the Chief of Staff of demanding ₦27.4 billion—representing 48 percent of the agency’s proposed take-off grant.
He further alleged that Gbajabiamila received ₦400 million through a proxy to facilitate his appointment, claiming that an additional ₦200 million remained unpaid.
Adeyemi has called on President Bola Tinubu to establish an independent investigative panel to examine the allegations. He also urged the President to order a review of all official documents relating to the disputed agencies and make the findings public.
Additionally, he demanded that Gbajabiamila step aside while any investigation into the allegations is carried out.
As the matter remains before the court, both the allegations made by Adeyemi and those levelled against him remain unproven, with the outcome expected to be determined through the ongoing legal process.
