The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, on Sunday November 30th joined the Apostolic Church, Uyo District, for the grand finale of the 2025 Women’s Week celebration, marking the event with generous empowerment support for women across the district.
Held at the Church Headquarters, 69 Oron Road, Uyo, the three-day programme brought together women from all seven Assemblies under the district, who participated in a range of activities including quiz competitions, song renditions, and group presentations geared toward spiritual growth and fellowship.
Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Inibehe Etukudo, Lady Obareki congratulated the women for hosting a successful Women’s Week themed “A Woman of Strength.” She charged participants to remain steadfast in service and to draw renewed strength from God as they continue supporting the work of the ministry.
During the sermon titled “My Strength,” District Pastor A. O. Umoh encouraged women to return to a deeper life of prayer and spiritual discipline, reminding them that true resilience comes from constant communion with God.
As part of the celebration, Lady Obareki empowered 50 women with economic support items and refreshments, while also donating to specific women-driven projects within the district. In recognition of her longstanding commitment to women’s development and the growth of the Church, the Apostolic Church, Uyo District, presented her with an award of honour.
The delegation from the First Lady’s Office included the Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Council, Deaconess Glory Effiong; Coordinator of the ARISE Initiative for the Elderly, Mrs Mercy Eka; and Mrs Enobong Akindutire, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).
