The Lakers’ victory gives them a commanding 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven Western Conference playoff series, placing Houston on the brink of elimination.

LeBron Leads Lakers in Thriller
Veteran superstar LeBron James once again delivered in a crucial playoff moment, scoring 29 points and producing key defensive and offensive plays late in the game to help his side complete a remarkable comeback.
James, now 41 years old and competing in his 19th NBA postseason, demonstrated his experience and composure when it mattered most.

With the Lakers trailing late in regulation, he made a vital steal before knocking down a game-tying three-pointer with 13.6 seconds remaining to force overtime.
He then continued his influence in the extra period, adding another steal and an important block as the Lakers pulled clear.

James also contributed 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in an all-round performance that underlined his enduring impact in the league.
“Just trying to seize the opportunity,” James said after the game.
“My guys trust me to try to make plays and I’m blessed to be able to do it.”

Lakers Overcome Injury Concerns
The result is particularly significant for Los Angeles given the absence of key players.
The Lakers entered the contest without league-leading scorer Luka Dončić, who remains sidelined with a hamstring strain.

They were also missing important offensive contributor Austin Reaves, who is out with an oblique injury.
Despite those setbacks, the team showed resilience and depth, with Marcus Smart playing a decisive role.
Smart scored 21 points overall, including eight points in overtime, helping the Lakers take control after the game was level at the end of regulation.

Rockets Let Late Lead Slip
The Rockets, one of the younger teams in the postseason, appeared on course to level the series after recovering from an early 15-point deficit.
Houston led by six points with fewer than 30 seconds left in regulation and seemed poised to secure a crucial home victory.

However, a series of costly mistakes changed the outcome.
A turnover handed possession back to Los Angeles before Smart was fouled while attempting a three-pointer.

He converted all three free throws to reduce the gap to 101-98 and keep the Lakers alive.
That set the stage for James’ clutch three-pointer moments later.
Houston then had one final chance in regulation, but Alperen Şengün missed a potential go-ahead basket before the buzzer.

Sengun Shines in Defeat
Although the Rockets fell short, Şengün delivered an outstanding individual performance.
The Turkish big man finished with 33 points and 16 rebounds, carrying much of Houston’s offensive load.

The Rockets were also without veteran star Kevin Durant, who remains sidelined with a sprained ankle.
His absence was felt in the closing moments, as Houston lacked an experienced scorer to steady the team when pressure mounted.

History Against Houston
The Rockets now face a daunting challenge heading into Game Four.
No team in NBA history has recovered from a 0-3 deficit to win a playoff series, leaving Houston with almost no margin for error.
The Lakers, meanwhile, will travel to Houston for the next game knowing another victory would complete a series sweep.

Given the injuries they have endured, many observers did not expect Los Angeles to hold such a dominant position at this stage.
Instead, the combination of veteran leadership, disciplined defence, and timely scoring has put them in full control.

Celtics Defeat Sixers
Elsewhere, the Boston Celtics recorded a playoff victory over the Philadelphia 76ers to strengthen their own postseason ambitions.
Boston once again relied on balanced team play and defensive intensity to overcome their Eastern Conference rivals.

The Celtics continue to be regarded as one of the favourites for the NBA title, thanks to their depth, strong perimeter shooting, and postseason experience.
For Philadelphia, the defeat adds pressure as they seek to remain competitive in what has become an increasingly difficult matchup.

Playoff Drama Intensifies
Friday night’s results highlighted the drama and unpredictability of the NBA playoffs, where momentum can swing in seconds and experience often proves decisive.
For the Lakers, LeBron James once again showed why he remains one of basketball’s defining figures, delivering when the stakes were highest.

For Houston, the loss will be painful given how close they came to victory.
As the series continues, all attention now turns to whether the Lakers can complete the sweep or whether the Rockets can produce an unlikely response to keep their season alive.
