Police in Bayelsa State have commenced an investigation into the death of a 40-year-old man, identified simply as Felix, who was found lifeless in a guest house in Yenagoa.
The incident occurred at a guest house located along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of the state capital.
According to residents, Felix reportedly checked into the facility with a woman whose identity has not yet been established. He was later discovered dead inside one of the rooms on Wednesday morning.
Sources said the deceased, a mobile phone repair technician who worked at the Ekeki shopping complex, was found unclothed after a cleaner entered the room during routine cleaning and raised the alarm.
News of his death drew colleagues and shop owners from the nearby shopping complex, who gathered to mourn the loss of the technician.
Witnesses claimed that several sachets of alcoholic beverages were found on a bedside table inside the room before police secured the scene.
The Bayelsa State Police Command has detained three individuals, including the guest house owner and the cleaner who discovered the body, as part of ongoing investigations.
Police also briefly questioned the deceased’s brother, Dennis, after he was found with Felix’s mobile phone. However, he was later released after providing what investigators considered a satisfactory explanation.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Musa Mohammed, said detectives have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
