The National Assembly of Nigeria recently hosted an art exhibition that featured works by 15-year-old autistic artist Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo‑Okeke (aka “Kanye”) — a GWR-holder for the “largest canvas painting by an individual.”
The exhibition which is part of broader efforts to raise awareness about disability, inclusion, and the potentials of neurodiverse talents brings national visibility to autism and challenges stereotypes about persons with disabilities.
Kanye’s massive painting, titled “Impossible Is A Myth,” spans more than 12,300 square meters, a feat that not only broke the previous record, but also served as a powerful statement about resilience and possibility regardless of challenges.
Supporters at the exhibition said the event aims to encourage other government institutions and society at large to give space and support to differently-abled artists and youths, and to consider art and inclusion as part of legislative and social policy priorities.
