The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed all branches of Inner Galaxy Steel Company and Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Limited over allegations linked to terrorism financing and the illegal handling of vandalised government infrastructure.
In a statement issued on Monday, the NSCDC said it obtained court orders authorising the closure of the companies following investigations into alleged conspiracy, theft, concealment of stolen property, and destruction of critical national assets, particularly railway infrastructure.
According to the agency, operatives from the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad carried out a raid on one of the companies’ facilities located in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where several vandalised government materials were allegedly recovered.
The corps said investigations revealed that stolen railway components and other public infrastructure were transported through an organised network to company locations in Aba and other branches, where the materials were reportedly melted and converted into commercial products such as roofing sheets and nails.
The NSCDC described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to combat economic sabotage, infrastructure vandalism, and activities capable of threatening national security.
The agency further disclosed that management officials of the companies, said to be owned by Chinese nationals, had been invited for questioning but were yet to honour the summons.
Commandant General Ahmed Audi reportedly directed investigators to ensure that all individuals connected to the alleged offences are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted if found culpable.
Security analysts say the case highlights growing concerns over the activities of criminal networks involved in the destruction and illegal recycling of public infrastructure, a development authorities warn could undermine transportation systems and national economic stability.
