The Ondo State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of CP Felix Ohagwu as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.
He takes over from the immediate past commissioner, following his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of routine postings within the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued in Akure by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh.
According to the statement, CP Ohagwu is a seasoned officer with over three decades of service experience across various commands in Nigeria. He has served in several operational, investigative, administrative and intelligence roles focused on crime prevention, public safety and security coordination.
The command said his appointment is expected to further strengthen policing operations in Ondo State, especially in the areas of intelligence-led policing and community security.
Upon assuming office, CP Ohagwu pledged to intensify efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
He said his leadership would prioritise proactive policing strategies, improved intelligence gathering, and stronger collaboration with sister security agencies to combat crime.
The new police commissioner also assured residents of his commitment to professionalism, accountability, transparency and respect for human rights in line with global policing standards.
Security analysts note that his deployment comes at a time when states across the country are increasingly focusing on intelligence-driven policing to tackle emerging security challenges, including kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent crimes.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with the police command by providing timely information that could assist in maintaining peace and order across Ondo State.
