ONDO LG CHAIRMAN SHUTS DOWN SCHOOLS OVER SECURITY CONCERNS

Authorities in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State have ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools following rising security concerns in the area. The directive was announced by the council chairman, Taiwo Adegoroye, who described the move as a precautionary step aimed at protecting pupils, students, teachers, and other education workers.

According to the council, the decision became necessary amid growing fears of potential security threats within the locality. Officials stressed that safeguarding lives remains the top priority while security agencies intensify surveillance operations across the area.

The closure order affects all schools within the local government, although students currently sitting for national examinations have been granted limited access to school premises strictly for exam purposes under strict supervision.

The council warned that any school that violates the directive will face appropriate sanctions, adding that enforcement measures will be closely monitored.

Parents and guardians have also been advised to keep close watch over their children and discourage unnecessary movement during the period of closure.

Meanwhile, the local government says it is working in collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve safety across Odigbo.

The chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security operatives as part of efforts to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
