Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied entering into any electoral agreement or political partnership with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) before, during or after the state’s August 15 governorship election.
Adeleke made the clarification on Tuesday through his verified X account, following reports suggesting that his victory may have been linked to an arrangement with the ADC.
The governor said his re-election was made possible by God and the people of Osun State, while stressing that the ADC was not part of the political coalition that supported his campaign.
‘ADC Was Never Part Of Our Coalition’
Adeleke said the group of political allies that worked for his victory had no formal partnership with the ADC.
He explained that the coalition involved political partners who actively campaigned, mobilised supporters and contributed to his electoral success.
The governor also thanked those partners for their commitment and sacrifices throughout the campaign.
According to Adeleke, there was “no electoral deal or partnership with the ADC before, during, or after the governorship election.”
He said it was important to clarify the issue for the sake of historical accuracy and to prevent speculation surrounding the outcome of the election.
Adeleke Promises To Govern All Osun Residents
Following his victory, Adeleke said he remained committed to governing the entire state regardless of political affiliation, religion or ethnic background.
He promised to focus on uniting the people of Osun State and advancing the state’s development.
The governor defeated Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Najeem Salaam of the ADC in the closely contested election.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes. Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
The governor won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas, while the APC candidate won the remaining 11.
Adeleke’s victory secured him another term in office as governor of Osun State.
