Papyrus Global Announces Mayors Conference & Awards 2026 In Abuja

Papyrus Global has announced the Papyrus Global Mayors Conference & Awards (PAGMACA) 2026, scheduled to take place from 29 April to 1 May 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The three-day international gathering is expected to convene mayors, local government chairmen, policymakers, development experts, civil society leaders, and governance stakeholders from more than 20 African countries.

According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will focus on strengthening local government systems, improving service delivery, and advancing inclusive and sustainable grassroots development across the African continent.

This year’s theme, “Strengthening Local Governance for Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable African Communities,” underscores the increasing role of local governments in addressing pressing development challenges, including rapid urbanisation, infrastructure deficits, public accountability, youth inclusion, and climate resilience.

Organisers noted that PAGMACA has grown into a continental platform that brings together local government leaders and policymakers to exchange ideas, share experiences, and promote best practices in governance and community development across Africa.

The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, technical sessions, and policy roundtables centred on governance reform, institutional capacity building, urban planning, and sustainable development strategies.

High-profile individuals expected to attend include the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi; the Executive Director of the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwal Musa Rafsanjani; and the National President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Aliyu Haruna Kankara, alongside other dignitaries and stakeholders from across the continent.

A key highlight of the event will be the Mayors Conference & Awards segment, where selected local government leaders will be recognised for excellence in leadership, accountability, innovation, and public service delivery. The awards are designed to promote effective governance and encourage improved performance across local government administrations.

The conference will also serve as a strategic networking platform, connecting government institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, and private sector actors engaged in governance and community development.

Organisers added: “It’s the dawn of another day… the countdown is on for one of the most prestigious and impactful events hosted by Papyrus Global. Don’t be told—be part of it.”

PAGMACA 2026 is expected to further strengthen cooperation among African local governments and advance ongoing efforts to build more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities across the continent.
