The Peoples Democratic Party, Peoples Democratic Party, has officially affirmed Hon. Usman Adamu Sufi as its governorship candidate for Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sufi emerged during a special delegates’ congress held at the Bauchi PDP Secretariat, supervised by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Independent National Electoral Commission. The exercise, conducted by voice vote and affirmation, saw delegates from all 20 local government areas unanimously endorse him as the party’s flagbearer.
Announcing the result, committee chairman Yusuf Doma said Sufi scored the highest affirmation in line with constitutional and electoral guidelines, describing the process as peaceful and transparent.
The committee also confirmed that PDP candidates for the State House of Assembly were duly elected across constituencies.
In his acceptance speech, Sufi thanked party delegates for their confidence, promising to prioritise education and healthcare if elected governor, while pledging to strengthen party unity and grassroots mobilisation.
Bauchi PDP Chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Kassim Toro, described the party as united and well-positioned for victory in 2027, urging members to intensify door-to-door campaigns.
In related developments, senatorial primaries across Bauchi State were also concluded. In Bauchi South, Dabo Danjuma Adamu emerged through affirmation, while Abdulkadir Adamu won Bauchi North after securing 137 votes against his opponent. Bello Ibrahim also emerged unopposed for Bauchi Central.
Officials say all primaries were conducted peacefully in line with party rules and the 2026 Electoral Guidelines, with stakeholders expressing optimism about the PDP’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
