Police Raid Alleged Baby Factory In Ogun, Rescue Pregnant Women And Four Children

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested six suspects and rescued two pregnant women and four children during a raid on an alleged baby factory in the Mowe area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.

The operation was carried out on August 24, 2026, following sustained intelligence on the activities of a suspected human trafficking and illegal adoption syndicate operating in the area.

According to the police, operatives stormed the syndicate’s hideout at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, a suburb of Mowe, at about 8:00 a.m.

The raid resulted in the rescue of two heavily pregnant women and four children, comprising two boys and two girls.

Police Uncover Human Trafficking Activities

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, Oluborode Opeyemi, said preliminary investigations indicated that human trafficking and illegal adoption activities had allegedly been taking place at the facility for some time.

The police said the rescued victims were taken to safety while the six suspects were arrested for questioning.

Further intelligence-led investigations also took operatives to a hospital within the Mowe area, where another victim had reportedly given birth to a baby boy on August 20.

However, the whereabouts of the newborn could not be established while the mother was receiving medical treatment.

The attending nurse was subsequently arrested as police intensified efforts to locate the missing baby.

Investigation Underway

The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

Authorities are working to determine the full extent of the alleged syndicate’s activities, locate the missing newborn and identify everyone involved in the suspected operation.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling human trafficking, child trading and other forms of crime across the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing criminal activities.

The police also assured the public that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
