The Nigerian Presidency has clarified why the United States is unlikely to impose sanctions on the country despite President Donald Trump’s recent statements on alleged persecution of Christians. Analysts indicate that sanctions could disproportionately affect civilians rather than government operations, complicating U.S. foreign policy objectives in Africa.
