Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and enhancing conditions for corps members serving in Rivers State. His remarks were made during a swearing-in ceremony for NYSC Batch A Stream I corps members deployed to the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor Fubara — represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba — emphasised that youth development is central to sustainable national progress. He said that harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s youth corps is crucial for leadership development and community advancement.
Fubara also assured the corps members that ongoing renovation and upgrades to NYSC facilities in Rivers State will be expedited to ensure better accommodation and operational spaces for future batches. He pledged the provision of additional infrastructure to match the rising number of participants posted to the state.
In his address, the governor noted that no nation can achieve lasting development without investing in its young people, describing NYSC members as “leaders of tomorrow” whose wellbeing and support remain a priority for his government.
The reaffirmation of support comes at a time when states are competing to attract capable graduates and strengthen youth engagement through skills building, community service, and mentoring partnerships.
