Rivers Youth Commissioner Chisom Gbali Resigns From APC

The Rivers State Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Chisom Kenneth Gbali, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect, in a move that is already generating political reactions across the state.

In a resignation letter released on Thursday, Gbali, who hails from Ward 1, Ayama Ndoki in Oyigbo Local Government Area, said his decision followed careful reflection and personal consideration. He requested that his name be removed from the party’s membership register and expressed appreciation for his time in the party.

Although he did not give specific reasons for leaving, Gbali reaffirmed his commitment to continued service and development of Rivers State.

Political observers say the resignation is significant due to his role as a prominent member of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s political structure and a key youth mobiliser in the state.

His exit is being linked to internal political tensions and ongoing realignments within the state’s ruling structure, particularly over party integration and leadership disagreements.

Gbali’s resignation comes at a sensitive time in Rivers politics, with analysts warning it could signal further defections or growing divisions within the governor’s camp.
