Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has forwarded a second batch of commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as part of efforts to complete his cabinet formation.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze, received the list during Tuesday’s plenary session and immediately referred it to the Committee on Screening and Election Matters for further legislative review.

The new list contains three nominees with designated responsibilities in key sectors of the state government.

They include Henry Arinze, nominated as Commissioner for Housing; Nonso Ebonwu, nominated for Commerce; and Dr Ezeaka Uwaeme, who is designated as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency.

The Speaker explained that the referral to the committee is in line with standard legislative procedures, which require detailed screening before confirmation of executive appointments.

He also noted that the Assembly is already concluding work on the first batch of 18 commissioner-nominees earlier submitted by the governor on May 5, indicating that the confirmation process is progressing in phases.

Lawmakers are expected to examine the qualifications, experience, and suitability of the nominees before forwarding their recommendations for final approval by the full House.

The latest submission is part of Governor Soludo’s broader effort to strengthen his administrative team and ensure effective delivery of government programmes across key sectors such as housing, commerce, and healthcare administration.
