Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has emphasized the critical role of education in national development. Speaking during the funeral of his elder brother, Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde, at Bishop Akinyele Memorial Anglican Church in Ibadan, the governor highlighted the limitations of relying solely on natural resources.
He cited Venezuela’s struggles despite vast oil reserves and contrasted it with Finland’s success attributed to heavy investment in education.
“Natural resources alone don’t guarantee prosperity. To thrive, we must invest in education and nurture entrepreneurs,” Makinde stated, urging Nigeria to adopt a diversified economic strategy.
