Kogi to receive Huge Sum from World Bank

The Kogi State Government is set to receive $26.2 million from a $500 million World Bank fund to improve basic education and primary healthcare.

Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris, disclosed this at a Citizens’ Sensitization Programme in Lokoja, highlighting the state’s focus on human capital development.

State Accountant General Dr. Habibat Tijani emphasized that the fund, under the HOPE-GOV initiative, will enhance fiscal transparency and improve the recruitment of teachers and healthcare workers.

Meanwhile, Commissioner for Education Wemi Jones commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for allocating over ₦1.2 billion for students’ external examination fees, while Commissioner for Health Dr. Abdulazeez Adams hailed the initiative as a game-changer for healthcare access.
