The Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has dismissed a petition challenging the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.
The petition, filed by the Accord Party (AP) and its candidate, Dr. Bright Enabulele, was thrown out on Wednesday by the Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
The Tribunal ruled that the petitioners made wild and unsubstantiated claims of ballot stuffing, voter harassment, and electoral fraud but failed to provide any concrete evidence or name any perpetrators.
With this latest ruling, Governor Okpebholo’s victory remains intact, marking the second legal win for him and the APC in the post-election legal battles.
INEC had declared Okpebholo the winner of the September 21, 2024 election with 291,667 votes, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, who secured 247,655 votes.
