AGRICULTURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP TAKES OFF UNDER FIRST LADY’S RENEWED HOPE INITIATIVE

The Akwa Ibom State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and First Lady Designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has expressed appreciation to Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her support in driving agricultural entrepreneurship among women and youth.
Lady Obareki made the remarks at the official flag-off of a four-day agricultural training programme organized in Uyo by the RHI in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Office of the First Lady, and the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Agriculture.
Speaking to a gathering of beneficiaries, she urged participants to take the training seriously, promising that those who complete the programme would receive tailored starter packs and financial assistance. “Everyone should grow something at home. If we do, we’ll ensure household-level food security,” she said.
Programme facilitator Mrs. Emem Orok disclosed that 200 participants—men, women, and youth—were enrolled in two clusters for training in fish farming, poultry, snail farming, goat farming, piggery, and stack farming. The first day focused on aquaculture, covering fish breeding, processing, and value addition.
The initiative aligns with the state’s ARISE Agenda and the “Every Home a Garden” campaign, both of which seek to promote food sustainability, self-reliance, and income generation through grassroots agriculture.
