LABOUR PARTY WARNS AGAINST PLOT TO EXPEL PETER OBI

The Labour Party faction led by Senator Nenadi Usman has dismissed a reported move by the Julius Abure-led camp to expel 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, describing the plan as laughable and illegal.
Ken Asogwa, the Special Adviser on Media to Usman, issued a statement condemning what he termed a “kangaroo meeting” being planned by “impostors and political jesters” seeking to undermine Obi’s credibility amid ongoing coalition talks to form a united opposition.
“The public must disregard these meddlesome interlopers. Their only mission is to attack Peter Obi and distract from the real coalition efforts to rescue Nigeria,” Asogwa said.
He reiterated that Obi’s participation in coalition talks enjoys the full support of the Labour Party’s current leadership, as affirmed in a statement released on May 25, 2025.
Referring to the Supreme Court’s ruling of April 4, 2025, which affirmed the expiration of the tenure of the Abure-led faction, the Usman camp insisted that the group lacks any legal authority to speak for the party.
The public was urged to verify all official information through the office of Senator Nenadi Usman, the party’s Acting National Chairman.
