OBI DECLARES SUPPORT FOR ADC CANDIDATE IN AMAC ELECTION, VOWS TO CAMPAIGN ON THE STREETS

Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has thrown his weight behind the ADC candidate in the upcoming Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, pledging to physically campaign with him on the streets.

Obi’s declaration came during a political meeting where he criticized the culture of big rallies and elite politics, stressing that real campaigns should happen among ordinary citizens in markets, schools, and neighborhoods. “I will walk the streets with him, I will campaign with him, because this election is about the people,” Obi said.

The endorsement is expected to energize the ADC’s campaign, particularly among young voters and civil servants living in Abuja’s satellite towns. Analysts say Obi’s involvement may tilt momentum away from the dominant parties, especially in a contest often seen as a barometer for national mood.

The AMAC election is drawing unusual attention this year due to heightened political divisions and Abuja’s strategic role as the federal capital.
