Longtime Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart Senator Lee Maiyegun Ajaka has stated he has not been informed whether former President Goodluck Jonathan plans to contest the 2027 presidential election against incumbent President Bola Tinubu or Vice President Nyesom Wike. The remark was delivered in an interview with a national media house.
Ajaka, known for his influence within Rivers State politics and national PDP circles, said internal party deliberations remain fluid and that any eventual decision would be communicated through official channels. “I speak for myself, not rumours,” he affirmed.
Political commentators say Ajaka’s statement reflects ongoing uncertainty and jockeying within PDP as factions appear to be positioning around potential presidential hopefuls. Jonathan’s name has floated in drafting conversations, but no formal announcement has been made. Ajaka’s public distancing suggests party leaders may prefer to maintain flexibility amid evolving alignments ahead of 2027.
