APC Chieftain Jophia Gupar Urges Unity, Cautions Against Division After Plateau Primaries

A leading All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam (PKK) Federal Constituency, Dr. Jophia Nanker Gupar, has called on party members across Plateau State to remain united and committed to the party despite grievances arising from the recently concluded APC primaries.

In a statement issued on Monday, Gupar acknowledged the disappointment and concerns expressed by many aspirants and party faithful over the conduct of the primaries, noting that while the process had left some members aggrieved, it was important not to allow temporary setbacks to undermine the party’s collective strength and future.

According to him, the APC remains a platform built on shared aspirations and democratic values, and internal disagreements should be addressed through lawful and democratic channels rather than actions capable of weakening the party.

Gupar emphasized the strategic importance of Plateau State in Nigeria’s political landscape, describing the state as “a belt that holds Nigeria together.” He urged party members to place the broader interests of the state and nation above personal disappointments and political differences.

The APC stalwart also called for support and prayers for the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, whom he described as a proud son of Plateau State working to ensure concerns arising from the primaries are adequately addressed.

He stressed that the period following the primaries should be one of reconciliation, healing, and party cohesion rather than division and hostility.

“I appeal to all APC members not to tear up their membership cards or take actions that could weaken the party. Political contests naturally produce winners and losers, but our collective responsibility is to preserve the unity of the APC and strengthen our democratic institutions,” he stated.

Gupar further urged party stakeholders, youth groups, women, and grassroots supporters to remain calm and patient while party leaders work toward resolving outstanding issues.

He encouraged aggrieved members to embrace dialogue and constructive engagement, stressing that unity remains the party’s strongest asset ahead of future political contests.

The APC aspirant reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of democracy, peace, and inclusive leadership, expressing confidence that the party would emerge stronger from the current challenges.

He concluded by calling on members across Plateau State and Nigeria to choose unity over discord, patience over anger, and reconciliation over division, saying such values are essential for the growth of the APC and the progress of the nation.

“Together, we can strengthen our party, protect our democracy, and build a better future for Plateau State and Nigeria,” Gupar said.
