Dangote Petroleum Refinery has approved the recall of engineers previously redeployed across its business units, following what management described as a conditional pardon after internal disciplinary actions tied to operational disruptions.
In an internal memo to staff, signed by Group Vice President (Oil & Gas), Devakumar Edwin, the company said the decision followed a comprehensive review process and multiple appeals from stakeholders and the affected personnel.
It noted that while earlier measures were necessary to safeguard operations and uphold corporate standards, the recall reflects a willingness to offer a second chance.
According to the directive, all affected engineers will be invited for a meeting before being reassigned to resume duties at the refinery. The recall also extends to those who had declined earlier redeployment options.
Management emphasised that the decision underscores its commitment to fairness while maintaining strict expectations regarding discipline, professionalism, and adherence to organisational values.
“This decision reflects our belief in second chances, but also serves as a reminder that loyalty, professionalism, and adherence to standards are non-negotiable,” the company stated.
The refinery, however, warned that any future misconduct would attract immediate and decisive sanctions, reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on actions that could undermine operations.
It further expressed confidence that the returning engineers would demonstrate renewed commitment as the company continues efforts to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen its role in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The development follows the redeployment of some refinery engineers in October 2025 by the Dangote Group as part of measures aimed at stabilising operations at the time.
