The Edo State Government has successfully reclaimed several government-owned ranches and agricultural facilities illegally occupied by land speculators and private developers.
The action followed a comprehensive review by the state’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, which identified multiple cases of encroachment on public ranches, including those in Edo North and Central Senatorial Districts.
Governor Okpebholo, who ordered the recovery exercise, said the move aligns with his administration’s resolve to protect public investments and promote sustainable agricultural development.
According to the Commissioner for Agriculture, the reclaimed properties will be repurposed for livestock and dairy production as part of the state’s broader plan to enhance food security and expand agro-allied industries.
The government reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for illegal occupation of state assets, warning encroachers to vacate all government lands or face legal sanctions.
