The Minister for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has issued a stern warning to stakeholders against acts of sabotage targeting the “Light Up Abuja” project, a major initiative aimed at expanding and stabilizing electricity in Nigeria’s capital.
During an inspection of ongoing infrastructure work, the minister said that any interference with power installations—whether through vandalism, theft of materials, or unauthorized alterations—would be met with legal consequences. He emphasized that restoring reliable power is central to urban revitalization, investor confidence, and improved quality of life.
The minister called on community leaders, residents, and security agencies to collaborate in protecting project sites and maintaining vigilance. He added that ensuring consistent power supply for Abuja is a shared responsibility that must transcend politics or personal gain.
