The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the official timetable for the 2026/2027 admission exercise, alongside the list of top scorers in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Announcing the details in Abuja, Registrar Professor Ishaq Oloyede said public universities must complete admissions by December 31, 2026, while private universities are expected to conclude by November 30. He also set December 31 as the deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education, warning that institutions that fail to comply will lose access to the Central Admissions Processing System.

Oloyede stressed that the deadlines are aimed at restoring order, transparency, and discipline to Nigeria’s admission process, reducing delays that have affected academic calendars in the past. He added that strict enforcement would ensure students resume schools on time and reduce gaps between secondary school graduation and university entry.

On the 2026 UTME results, JAMB announced that Owoeye Danella Jesudunsin from Ekiti State emerged overall best candidate with a score of 372 out of 400. She selected Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos as her first choice. Officials said her performance reflects strong competition among candidates in science-related courses.

Enwere Kinsley Ikenna from Imo State came second with 370, choosing Computer Science at Nile University, while Bamisile Ayomide Emmanuel from Ondo State placed third with 369 and aims to study Software Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

JAMB said the performance of top candidates shows steady improvement in examination standards, while urging institutions to strictly adhere to admission timelines and avoid illegal admissions outside the central system. The board also reiterated its commitment to ensuring merit-based and transparent admissions across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
