Police arrest driver involved in Anthony Joshua car crash

The Ogun State Police Command has taken into custody the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the high-profile road accident that injured world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua and claimed the lives of two of his associates.

In a statement on Thursday 1st January, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Boluwatife Babaseyi, confirmed that the driver is being held as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway earlier this week.

The accident, which sent shockwaves across Nigeria and the global sporting community, occurred when the SUV carrying Joshua and others collided with a stationary truck. Joshua who was returning from engagements and sporting commitments was treated for minor injuries and **discharged from hospital on Wednesday, 31st Dec.

Tragically, two people riding in the vehicle with Joshua were killed in the crash, amplifying both national grief and international attention on road safety issues in Nigeria.
