The Sokoto State Government has approved N1.759 billion for the purchase of 1,000 Bajaj motorcycles as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and combat banditry across the state.
The approval was granted at the sixth regular meeting of the State Executive Council, chaired by Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir.
New Motorcycles to Support Security Agencies
The motorcycles are expected to improve the mobility of security personnel, particularly in communities and difficult-to-access areas affected by bandit attacks.
The Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Sokoto.
The new vehicles will complement 62 armoured vehicles valued at N27 billion, which the state government recently procured and distributed to security agencies.
The government said the measures are aimed at strengthening security operations and improving the ability of personnel to respond to threats.
