Benin City — Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has forwarded the names of four nominees to the Edo State House of Assembly for confirmation as commissioners. The nominees, announced on Wednesday, are expected to strengthen the state executive council as the government consolidates on its development agenda.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, confirmed receipt of the list and directed the nominees to appear before the House for screening. Although their portfolios were not immediately disclosed, political watchers expect the new commissioners to play critical roles in infrastructure, health, education, and youth development.
The nominations are seen as part of Okpebholo’s strategy to balance political interests while injecting technocratic expertise into his cabinet. Lawmakers have promised a thorough screening process to ensure that only qualified individuals are cleared.
