Albania’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama, has said that Russia has no plans to attack any other European nation, downplaying fears of wider aggression following Moscow’s continued war in Ukraine.
Rama made the comments during a joint press briefing in Tirana after a regional security meeting, saying that intelligence assessments suggest “no immediate threat” to other European states from Russia.
The statement comes amid renewed NATO warnings about possible Russian interference in the Balkans and Eastern Europe. Rama, however, urged European leaders to “maintain vigilance but avoid panic,” emphasizing the need for diplomacy and unity.
Analysts note that the remarks reflect a nuanced stance from a key NATO ally in Southeast Europe, as Albania continues to balance regional stability concerns with its pro-Western alignment.
